Katy Perry Releases 'Part Of Me' Movie Poster

'From a hairbrush to a headliner,' singer tweets of image, which shows her singing into a hairbrush in her bedroom.By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry in her 'Part of Me' concert poster Photo: Katy Perry/Twitter/Capitol Records Katy Perry's "Part of Me" movie poster is super-colorful and a little kitschy. After teasing fans with pieces of the poster, she officially debuted the image on her Twitter. "So happy to share with you the official #KP3D movie poster ... from a hairbrush to a headliner," she tweeted. "Get ready, JULY 5TH!" So happy to share with you the official #KP3D movie poster...from a hairbrush to a headliner...get ready, JULY 5TH! twitter.com/katyperry/stat...— Katy Perry (@katyperry) May 17, 2012 That "love who you are" message is represented on the poster itself, which features Perry in her PJs singing into a hairbrush in her bedroom. In the mirror next to her, she's dolled up in a sparkling red costume and bright blue hair, singing into a candy-cane microphone. "Be yourself and you can be anything," the poster reads. The big reveal came with a bit of a contest. The first 20 people who were able to put the full poster together out of the puzzle pieces she'd released and tweet a photo to @KatyPerry using #KP3D will be picked to have a chance to see their Twitter handles featured in the closing credits of the colorful 3-D flick. The July 5 release was directed by Magical Elves' Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, who also served as producers on Justin Bieber's successful "Never Say Never" concert movie. In a trailer released in early April, fans got a taste of what they would see and hear in the flick, including Perry's candid confessions about her religious childhood and her split from Russell Brand. MTV News spoke to Perry in March about the film, and she explained just what fans will see in it. "It's closing the chapter on [my album] Teenage Dream, but it's giving you such an inside perspective," Perry said. "This film, you're going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you're going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything." The movie was filmed during her California Dreams trek. "That tour was so life-changing to me. I learned so much, I went through so much along the way," Perry said. "I'm not necessarily trying to prove anything to anyone, but not only will people really hands-down know me after they see this film, but you'll see me as the Dorothy wearing the red ruby slipper and at the end of it all I'm the [Wizard of] Oz as well." 'Battleship': The Reviews Are In!

Critics were surprised by how much they enjoyed Peter Berg's film, giving credit to its entertainment factor. By Fallon Prinzivalli Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna in "Battleship" Photo: Universal Pictures Many movie fans have been wary as to whether director Peter Berg could successfully pull of "Battleship." Inspired by a Hasbro board game giving no hint of any type of plot, the sci-fi epic follows the adventures of an international Navy fleet when aliens begin to invade earth. As the two forces go to battle, each must rely on a crafty, cunning strategy in order to conquer their enemy. The all-star, insanely attractive cast includes Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgård, Liam Neeson and Rihanna, in her movie debut. While some have written off "Battleship" as a lesser version of "Transformers," critics were surprised by how much they enjoyed the film. They praise the movie for not taking itself too seriously and give credit to its entertainment factor. The Story
"The surprise, for this veteran of board games, is that Battleship is also the rousing, engaging, and emotionally complex action war picture the silly 2001 action war picture 'Pearl Harbor' only wished it could be. It's 'Pearl Harbor' with greater intelligence, less hokum, and more aliens. For every line of howler dialogue that should have been sunk, there's a nice little scene in which humans have to make a difficult decision. For every stretch of generic sci-fi-via-CGI moviemaking, there's a welcome bit of wit. Under the direction of Peter Berg — the talented, ever-maturing filmmaker behind 'Friday Night Lights' and 'The Kingdom' — 'Battleship' is a sound vessel floating in Hollywood's oil-slick sea of 'Transformers' sequels and vampire riffs." — Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly The Cast
"The attractive cast does no more than Berg and the script require, which is very little indeed. After 'John Carter,' Kitsch is still waiting for a film vehicle to make good on the easy, authentic charm he exhibits in TV's 'Friday Night Lights,' though he's physically up to the task here. Fans of pop megastar Rihanna, making her film debut, will be disappointed to find that the role of Raikes may as well be renamed Young Female Demographic for all the pertinence it has to the narrative, but she's a sparky enough presence." — Guy Lodge, Variety "Kitsch, coming off the super-flop 'John Carter,' soft-pedals the charm, exuding just enough charisma to get by. The striking-looking Skarsgård ('True Blood') is ramrod-straight and impossibly grave throughout, while Decker's expression toggles between blank and very blank." — Megan Lehmann, The Hollywood Reporter The Special Effects
"Tech credits are all polished, if not as metallically sleek as they would be with a Michael Bay-style craftsman at the helm. Tobias Schliesser's lensing covers the teal-and-orange palette seemingly mandatory for such adventures these days, while Steve Jablonsky's score thumps and drones away with nary a pause, little betraying the presence of rock super-producer Rick Rubin and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello on the music team. The bulk of the attention in this evidently expensive production has been lavished on Industrial Light & Magic's typically immaculate effects, which are firmly in the "Transformers" mold stylistically, with the added challenge of water simulation. That such state-of-the-art creations have been used to realize a story whose climax hinges on a true-life WWII battleship, USS Missouri, outlasting its newer, shinier rivals is an irony probably lost on all involved." — Lodge The Final Word
"The creative team behind this ocean-bound thriller decided to fill the narrative black hole with a few ingredients all but absent from today's summer tent poles — namely mystery, nostalgia and a healthy dose of humility. Just as blockbusters have made the hard turn towards fantasy heroes who solemnly go about their business in high-def-but-low-impact 3D cage matches, Battleship is an unapologetically goofy, surprisingly enigmatic, refreshingly self-deprecating deviation from the norm. I hesitate to confess that I had more fun here than I did at 'The Avengers,' because low expectations surely had a lot to do with it, but it's the truth. Heck, I'd pay to see the thing again." — Steven James Snyder, TIME Magazine Are you planning on seeing "Battleship"? Let us know in the comments! Check out everything we've got on "Battleship." John Travolta Denies Masseuse's Sexual Assault Claims

'This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication,' a rep for Travolta tells People.By Kara Warner John Travolta Photo: Jesse Grant/ WireImage An anonymous plaintiff has filed a $2 million lawsuit against John Travolta, alleging that the "Old Dogs" star assaulted and sexually harassed him after he was hired to massage the actor. Unsurprisingly, a rep for Travolta has shot down the allegations via a statement issued to People magazine, in which the rep strongly denied all claims made by the anonymous man, known only as John Doe via his court filing. "This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication," Travolta's rep said. "None of the events claimed in the suit ever occurred. The plaintiff, who refuses to give their name, knows that the suit is a baseless lie. It is for that reason that the plaintiff hasn't been identified with a name even though it is required to do so. "On the date when plaintiff claims John met him, John was not in California and it can be proved that he was on the East Coast," the statement continued. "[The] plaintiff's attorney has filed this suit to try and get his 15 minutes of fame. John intends to get this case thrown out and then he will sue the attorney and plaintiff for malicious prosecution." The plaintiff's lengthy 14-page suit, which was filed Friday in California's U.S. District Court, charges 58-year-old Travolta with assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that among other salacious activities, Travolta exposed himself and groped the masseur despite protests during a massage performed in Los Angeles in January 2011.

'Game Of Thrones' Death Catches Actress By 'Surprise'

'They're dropping like flies!' Amrita Acharia laughs about latest episode.By Kara Warner Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage in "Game of Thrones" Photo: Paul Schiraldi/HBO Another week, another enthralling, action-packed episode of HBO's hit fantasy-epic "Game of Thrones." There are so many elements to appreciate in creator George R.R. Martin's brilliant and twisted work, one being the way in which the author/executive producer has no qualms about offing important characters. After last season's huge shocker with Sean Bean's character, fans should be ready for anything, like what went down at the end of the most recent episode. (For those who haven't yet watched "The Old Gods and the New," do not read any further — spoilers ahead!) As we mentioned in , show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss did some deviating from Martin's original plotlines in the books and killed off a character very unexpectedly. The unfortunate victim was Dany's loyal Dothraki handmaiden, Irri, played by Amrita Acharia. MTV News caught up with the actress recently to talk about her character's surprise exit, of which even she wasn't aware until she read the script. "I got the script, and [David and Dan] were like, 'Sorry, we killed you!' And I was like, 'Yeah, you could bring me back as a zombie,' " Acharia said with a smile, hinting at some plot points our fellow readers of Martin's books know well. "It was a surprise, but it was a good scene, so that's good. "Obviously, it's sad to leave," she added. "Dany has already lost a blood rider, so for her to lose one of her handmaidens, they'd become friends, and I think that's pretty tough. She's been through so much. She's lost her babies, she's lost her husband, and she's had to go trolling the desert, and all of a sudden some else dies. They're dropping like flies!" she said with a laugh. "But I've had a really good run of it, so I enjoyed it." Did this week's death catch you by surprise? Let us know in the comments. Related Videos Watching The 'Thrones'

Katy Perry Wraps New Video For Complete Confection Track

'3rd long ass day of shooting ... the new music video!!!!!' she tweeted about her latest splashy visual.By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Getty Images Katy Perry has some news for her Katy Cats. She just wrapped up production on a brand-spankin'-new music video. The singer tweeted about the shoot, teasing that the video will play some part in her forthcoming 3-D big-screen spectacle "Katy Perry: Part of Me," out in July. "3rd long ass day of shooting ... the new music video!!!!! #workinggirl," she tweeted late Wednesday. "About to shoot one of the last scenes for the music video ... I have to pick a costume from the Cali Dreams Tour, which would u pick? #KP3D." While she didn't specify for which track she was shooting the video, when she sat down with MTV News in March, she noted that she did have a video concept in mind for her Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection track "Wide Awake." "I know exactly what that music video is. I know exactly who is directing it. I know the art direction, the people, the narrative," she explained. "And I had that idea while I was writing the song." In the same interview, Perry talked about the dreamy breakup track. "Well, there were two songs that I had from Teenage Dream that I couldn't put on, it was 'Part of Me' and 'Dressing Up.' And then I knew we were doing the re-release and so I was like, 'I got to get in the studio,' because I can't wait eight months to be able to put out this feeling that I'm feeling right now," she said. " 'Cause God knows, it would take eight months to do another record. I couldn't do it on the fly, to set up records it takes time. "So I was like, 'I'm getting into studio.' I had two days to write and I wrote it with my regular crew," she said of working with Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Bonnie McKee for the song. "Then I had two days to record. It was literally ... I submitted the lyrics before I submitted the music because it was by the hair of my chinny chin chin that I put that song on the record. But I have a film that's coming out in the summer that's like a concert documentary. Not only did I write the song because I needed to flush that out of my system, but I wrote it for the film as well." Related Videos MTV First: Katy Perry's 'Part Of Me' Related Artists Katy Perry
