Mixtape released as Rick Ross, Wale and Juelz Santana join Maybach Music star for Philly yacht party.By Rahman Dukes Meek Mill Photo: MTV News PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia's hip-hop prince Meek Mill celebrated 25 years of excellence Sunday night with a massive birthday gala that included ice sculptures, a fully catered private yacht party and a bristling charcoal black Range Rover Sport as a birthday gift. Arriving just before sunset, a fashionably late Meek illuminated the dark parking area across from his boat party, emerging from a pearl white Rolls Royce Phantom, greeted by his Maybach Music entourage. Rick Ross, Wale, French Montana, Juelz Santana, DJ Drama, Philadelphia 76ers basketball player Lou Williams and a host of family and friends were all on hand to wish Philly's rap wonderkid well on his milestone. "I had to come home to support the big homey — I mean, the young boy, my young boy," Philly native DJ Drama said. "I'm proud of him — celebrating his birthday, big mixtape in the streets, announces his album date. He's really putting on for Philly." Meek has much to celebrate, ringing in his born day with the release of the much-anticipated Dream Chasers 2 mixtape and his Club Paradise Tour on deck with fellow rapper Drake, J. Cole, Waka Flocka, 2 Chainz and French Montana. MMG's young gun will hit the road for the trek starting Monday (May 7) with back-to-back dates leading into his Dreams and Nightmares debut album, which is locked in for a summer release. "Shout-outs to Meek Mill. He invited me to come f--- with him for his birthday, so I came out here to show that love," said a smiling Juelz Santana. "Meek doing his thing. He young and in the game. He doing it the right way, so I support that." The idling Freedom Elite watercraft, which sat calmly docked on the chilly Delaware River, was packed with hundreds of partying guests, who showered the birthday boy with dozens of gifts. "We celebrating the boy born date, 25 years," said Rick Ross, who last week set a July 31 release date for his long-awaited God Forgives, I Don't. "And the homey doing big things." Ross gave his Maybach star the most notable gift on his big night: a Range Rover. According to Ross, the present was a token of their strong bond after Meek gave the boss a $50,000 watch for Ross' own birthday earlier this year. Related Artists Meek Mill

Pop star brings new clip to MTV News and answers all his fans' questions during Thursday's 'MTV First: Justin Bieber.'By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Justin Bieber during "MTV First: Justin Bieber" Photo: MTV News From the back of a Shelby Mustang right to a showroom filled with classic cars, Justin Bieber premiered his highly anticipated "Boyfriend" video on Thursday (May 3) during "MTV First: Justin Bieber." The sexy, sunny, Director X-directed clip certainly had fans in the room cheering. The video comes to life with shots of Bieber driving a muscle car, snuggling with his beautiful co-star and getting his dance on alongside his pals, all while they chill out at a rooftop party somewhere in Los Angeles. It's a more mature look at the growing pop star, who in only a few short years has gone from strumming his guitar on the streets of his Canadian hometown to full-fledged international pop-star status, where he fills arenas all over the world. "I kind of switched it up from all the teasers," Bieber told MTV News' Sway Calloway about what fans saw of the video before its premiere. "I switched up the whole video on them, and really, I think it's super cool. I wanted to do something a little bit more mature." The video is full of swaggy images, ranging from his varsity jacket to his cool car, but what left one fan in the "MTV First" audience most intrigued were the gold sneakers he sports in the video. "I did pick out those swaggy gold shoes," he laughed. "They spray-painted them gold. That's what I'm going to do: I'm gonna start wearing gold shoes all the time." With the video's focus on cars and friends, the 18-year-old chatted about his own personal car collection. "I have a Range Rover and a Fisker. And I have a Smart Car. It just helps me get from point A to point B. I call it my little 'swag car,' " he said. While Bieber made it clear that his off-time doesn't look a lot like the party in the video, he did share what he does on the weekends: "I work. ... If I'm with my friends, we like to do regular stuff," he said, before opening up about what he does to unsuspecting pals in an elevator. "We have this game where basically we hit each other in the balls." In addition to opening up about the video and his unusual take on riding in an elevator, he also talked about working with pals Drake, Kanye West, Usher and Taylor Swift for his brand-new album, Believe, out June 19. "Boyfriend" is the lead single from the highly anticipated release. But with the music world conquered, he also teased his forthcoming work in Hollywood. He gave an update on his in-the-works basketball movie with Mark Wahlberg, as well as his blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo in "Men In Black 3." He noted, however, "Right now I'm focused on my album and Believe." What did you think of the "Boyfriend" video? Share your reviews in the comments! Gaga dishes about her album in a lengthy interview in the Metro newspaper.By Jocelyn Vena Metro editorial assistant Jeroen Engelen and Lady Gaga Photo: Alex Maguire In one week, Lady Gaga finally releases Born This Way, which she once touted as "the greatest album of this decade." In a new interview with the Metro newspaper, Lady Gaga opens up a bit more about what this album means. "Born This Way is my answer to many questions over the years: Who are you? What are you about? ... The most paramount theme on the record is me struggling to understand how I can exist as myself as someone who lives halfway between fantasy and reality all the time," she explained in the lengthy chat. When asked if she uses her personality to market her music, she said, "It's kind of like saying, 'Are you honest? Do you have integrity? Are you full of sh--?' But listen, my social involvement for equality and gay rights, as well as my music, is completely genuine. But I don't think I ever want everyone to ever know fully who or what I am." Gaga further discussed her personal goals and motivations. "Part of what I'm doing is asking you to look inside yourself, to ask yourself questions," she maintained. "I have a close relationship with my family. I'm very close with my fans and I'm in tune with what they want. And I'm in tune with myself, too. At the end of the day, I have to look myself in the mirror and I'm proud of everything I stand for. I have no reason to do or say anything unless it comes from my soul. I work very hard. I don't party very much. You don't see me falling out of nightclubs and buying Range Rovers. Social justice and music are the two most paramount things in my life and I can't put it more plainly." In other Gaga news, Metro.co.uk will stream all 14 songs on Born This Way starting on Wednesday in anticipation of the album's official release next week. Meanwhile, Gaga visited the London offices of Metro on Monday, where she served as was on-hand guest editor of the newspaper. "Dear monsters, let your identity be your religion," wrote Gaga. "Little monsters are not a fan base. They are a culture that exists entirely outside of pop music. They are their own religion. They are a race within the race of humanity." Justin Timberlake also wanted to sign Bieber, 'Never Say Never' star said in 2009.By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Brian Phares/MTV News Just as the world was learning who Justin Bieber was, MTV News caught up with the shaggy-haired singer in September 2009. He was gearing up to release his debut album, My World, and plotting his pop-world domination. In the year and a half since that interview, Bieber has done the nearly impossible, launching himself into the pop mega-sphere. In the chat, Bieber recalled how he and his manager, Scooter Braun, met and eventually got big names interested in signing the teen. "My manager found me on YouTube. He flew me out to Atlanta for the first time — I'd never actually been on a plane before. He flew me to Atlanta where i was going to the studio to meet some people," he recalled. "And Usher happened to roll up in his Range Rover. I ran up to him, and I was like, 'Usher, I love your songs. Want me to sing you one?' The politest possible way he could say no, he did. ... I took the hint. I didn't get to sing for him: He had to run into a studio session." But later, Usher was beckoning the teen back to the ATL. "He actually watched my videos — after my manager got to talking to him — and was like, 'I should have let this kid sing,' and flew me back to Atlanta where I got to sing for him in a proper setting. A week later, I had a meeting with Justin Timberlake, who also wanted to sign me, so they both kind of wanted me." As the story goes, Bieber went with Usher, and the two never looked back. "As far as Usher being my mentor, he's definitely given me words of wisdom. I hear it from everybody, but definitely to hear it from Usher is great, just to stay humble and grounded is very important," he explained. "There's a lot of people, especially young stars, that have gone down the wrong path, and I definitely plan to stay humble and stay grounded and keep my family first, because that stuff really is important in life." On Friday, Justin Bieber's 3-D documentary, "Never Say Never," opens. The film takes a look at how the teen star worked to hit it big. MTV News has been chatting with him along the way, from the time he first burst on the scene in 2009 until now, as he embarks on a huge 2011 that will include a tour and more new music.
