'It makes my day to see it,' Jepsen tells MTV News about clips by everyone from Justin Bieber to the Harvard baseball team.By Christina Garibaldi Carly Rae Jepsen Photo: MTV News It's been just a few months since Justin Bieber signed Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen to his Schoolboy Records, but since then, she has certainly made her mark on the music scene. Her infectious hit single "Call Me Maybe" is currently #1 on the iTunes songs chart and #4 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and has spawned a barrage of humorous and entertaining online videos parodies that have captured the attention of not only fans but Jepsen herself. "I have seen a few. It's pretty rad that people are participating and making their own versions. It makes my day to see it," Jepsen told MTV News. "It's hard to imagine this, even though I'm living this every day, it's kind of hard to believe it sometimes. [I] definitely didn't predict this." The online lip-synching parodies seem to be the latest craze, especially among college students. Sports teams from Duke, UConn, Syracuse and Southern Methodist University have all posted their own versions of the song, but it was taken to another level when the Harvard baseball team choreographed an intricate fist-pump dance while singing along to the single. "I saw the fist pump, it was so cute. It was funny because every chorus, they added a new element. I was like, they really planned this out, this is so fantastic," Jepsen said of the Harvard video. "It's so cool that it's sort of sparked this online thing. It's really neat." College students aren't the only ones obsessing over this song. Actor James Franco posted his own version of the song , and just last month, Katy Perry uploaded her own parody, featuring herself and a group of friends at a Coachella pool party. "I was in London at the time I saw Katy's version of 'Call Me Maybe.' I think she was at Coachella when she shot it, which was really cool," Jepsen said. "It was another surreal moment: Being in London was already crazy and then on top of it, to kind of see all the stars were reaching out and doing their versions as well, it was kind of like a cherry on top of the whole thing." We may have to thank Bieber for all of these videos since he is the one that started the trend. Back in February, Bieber, along with his girlfriend Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Big Time Rush, created his own music video, playfully singing along to the inescapable track. "I have a long list of thank-yous that I owe to Justin for everything to do with my career," Jepsen said. "He's just kind of opened the door to the rest of the world to me." Collaborating with Rihanna would be 'incredible,' guys tell MTV News.By Jocelyn Vena One Direction Photo: NBC Universal In addition to girls all across America, the fivesome of One Direction are also winning the hearts of some of Hollywood's most A-list starlets and singers, who have been tweeting and talking about — and dancing to — the boy band now that they are keeping everyone Up All Night with their sunny pop tunes. At the Kids' Choice Awards in March, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were all spotted in the audience boogying to the band's single "What Makes You Beautiful." And, Demi Lovato recently opened up about crushing on Niall Horan, saying, "He's so adorable!" and later tweeting, "And I totally just downloaded some One Direction songs ... #guilty." When MTV News caught up with the fellas, they opened up about all the famous-female attention they've been receiving lately. "How cool was that?" Louis Tomlinson said of the KCA love. "[It's] really exciting, I suppose," Liam Payne added. "And even following Katy Perry on the stage as well was a big thing for us. It's just amazing to be in the same room as these sort of people, for us to just come over from England and just be involved." With so much love from celebrity fans, the guys are also feeling love for the ladies and appreciate the support they've been sending their way. Harry Styles explained, "I feel good. I think the people who were getting involved are all great performers, so for them to enjoy our performance was nice. ... Katy Perry was there, Selena Gomez. There was Ashley Tisdale. Taylor Swift was dancing as well." As for which of those ladies would top their list of possible future collaborations, they said working with Perry or Rihanna would be "cool" and "incredible." While they didn't mention working with Gomez in the future, One Direction had been rumored to be working with her beau, Justin Bieber, but they've since shot down talk that a duet is in the works. "We actually went down to the studio to listen to some of Justin Bieber's tracks," Payne explained. "He invited us down, and we had a good listen, but there's no real collaboration or anything." 'What Makes You Beautiful' performance has Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez and even first lady Michelle Obama on their feet.By Katie Byrne One Direction at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2012 Photo: Getty Images One Direction continued their Stateside takeover Saturday (March 31) at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards. And there was no question about their popularity: The piercing screams from the crowd when their performance was announced was enough confirmation. The boys drove the girls even wilder when just their outlines appeared before they kicked into their song "What Makes You Beautiful" and emerged onstage. Every girl in the audience — including Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Ashley Tisdale and their posse of ladies — knew all the words and sang along. Even first lady Michelle Obama couldn't keep herself from clapping! The guys' dapper style was in full force, with each member wearing a different black-and-white look. Ginormous white bouncy balls went flying through the crowd throughout the performance, and the OD dudes finished their set by knocking a few of the orbs back into the audience with huge grins on their faces. Even before their Kids' Choice performance, it was pretty clear One Direction were making a big impression on America. Just a few weeks ago, OD's Up All Night made Billboard history by becoming the first debut album by British group to enter the chart at #1, and the album also topped the charts in 15 other countries. And their U.S. television appearances didn't begin and end with the KCA: One Direction promoted their first album on the "Today" show earlier this month, and next week, they will be the musical guests on "Saturday Night Live." "We obviously get American TV in the U.K., and I've watched 'Saturday Night Live' before ... and 'Saturday Night Live' is a big, big deal, everyone knows that. And when we got invited on, we couldn't believe it," One Direction's Niall Horan told MTV News last week. "Again, we haven't spent a lot of time here, so a lot of people don't know who we are, so to be invited on such a prestigious American show is pretty amazing." Do you have One Direction fever? Biebs introduces his artist's performance and offers a preview of his single 'Boyfriend.'By Natasha Chandel Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" Photo: Warner Bros. is standing behind his girl. Carly Rae Jepsen made her first major U.S. talk-show appearance on Friday's (March 23) "Ellen DeGeneres Show," and she brought quite the surprise with her: Bieber himself and an exclusive preview of his song "Boyfriend." Ellen began the segment attempting to read an intro for Jepsen, the 26-year-old Canadian singer who won the hearts of pop enthusiasts with her catchy, upbeat single "Call Me Maybe" but was interrupted by an eruption of screaming girls who caught sight of a black-and-yellow-clad Justin Bieber. The young heartthrob took the opportunity to introduce Jepsen, whom he recently signed to his Schoolboy Records label. He had been making a public Twitter bid to Ellen to have his new artist appear on her daytime show. video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player Jepsen, who calls her style "folky pop," took to the stage in a long, bohemian dress. Jepsen sang her hit song, currently at #8 on the iTunes singles chart alongside the Wanted and Katy Perry. Her performance was applauded by Ellen and topped off with a giant hug from her new mentor. During an interview with Ellen, Bieber recalled hearing Jepsen's track on the radio in Canada and jumping on YouTube to find out more about the "talented" singer. After learning of her local success, Bieber realized she was unsigned in the U.S. and immediately decided to change that. Life has certainly taken a 180-degree turn for Jepsen in the last two months. "I had never branched outside of Canada, and I didn't know how to do that, and then one miraculous day, Justin called," Jepsen told Ellen. "It seemed too good to be true." There is also talk of a possible collaboration with Bieber. Bieber is taking his new A&R role very seriously, promoting Jepsen in any way possible, including dropping a video spoof of "Call Me Maybe" featuring famous friends Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Carlos Pena Jr. of Big Time Rush. MTV News gets to know the 26-year-old 'Call Me Maybe' singer, who has suddenly found herself in the big leagues.By Natasha Chandel

Carly Rae Jepsen has suddenly found herself in the big leagues. Justin Bieber recently signed the YouTube pop starlet to his label Schoolboy Records, much like his mentor, Usher, helped catapult him into superstardom when the R&B icon took Bieber under his wing.
It all started when Bieber tweeted, "Call me maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen is possibly the catchiest song I've ever heard," creating an immediate runaway hit of the track off Jepsen's EP Curiosity. And now, a music video spoof of the song, featuring heavy pop hitters like Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and, of course, Bieber, has likely made "Call Me Maybe" the song of the season.
"I have no idea why Justin Bieber picked me out of everyone he could have picked, but I'm so glad he did," Jepsen told MTV News recently.
So, who is the girl who wants you to call her, maybe? We already know the 26-year-old Canadian singer has fans in high places, and her track is in the top 10 on the iTunes singles chart, alongside the likes of Adele and Katy Perry. But there is much about this up-and-coming pop singer that you might not know, and MTV News would like to acquaint you with some lesser-known facts about Carly Rae Jepsen.
1. She is an "Idol" alum
In 2007, Jepsen placed third in the Canadian version of the popular "Idol" competition, touring across the country for the "Canadian Idol" Top 3 Concert Tour. During her first audition, Jepsen impressed the judges so much, singing original material, that one judge proclaimed his wish for her not to move forward in the show so he could sign her to a record deal right there and then.
2. She might collaborate with Justin Bieber
The Bieb is certainly "paying it forward." This past Christmas, Usher recorded a song with his protégé on "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)," and now Bieber has reportedly collaborated on a track with his protégé, Jepsen. "I think a collaboration with Justin Bieber isn't out of the question considering we've already gotten together and worked on a little something," Jepsen told MTV News. "But for when that will come out, your guess is as good as mine, but hopefully soon. I like the song."
3. She takes inspiration from life and her friends.
Most art imitates life, and it is no different for Jepsen. But she also takes inspiration from the lives of those around her. "I have a fascination with words, so if a girlfriend starts talking and says a phrase that resonates with me, I'll put it down on a napkin and get inspired from that," Jepsen says of her creative process.
4. She loves shoes.
Jepsen loves her stilettos. "I have an obsession with high heels mostly because I'm 5'2" and a girl needs all the help she can get!" she quips. She will likely have a ball this spring/summer fashion season as the height of heels grows, hopefully in conjunction with her rising stature.
Jepsen has been making the media rounds under the tutelage of Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, who recently told Rolling Stone, "He's [Justin Bieber] never jumped out and promoted an artist like this."
Jepsen is scheduled to make an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on March 22, and it seems the sky's the limit for this folksy addition to the pop world, especially with Justin Bieber on your side.

'Call Me Maybe' singer says working with Bieber has left her 'rejuvenated.'By Jocelyn Vena Carly Rae Jepsen Photo: MTV News When Justin Bieber signed up-and-coming pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen, he wanted to give back. Having been signed by Usher several years back, Justin wanted to keep the cycle of artist-empowerment alive with the rookie singer, who dropped her EP Curiosity last month. Much like her boss, Bieber, the 26-year-old Canadian caught everyone's attention as a YouTube star. Then her video for "Call Me Maybe" made headlines when Bieber enlisted his pals Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale to star in the clip. "I have no idea why Justin Bieber picked me out of everyone he could have picked, but I'm so glad he did," she told MTV News. "I'm learning just sort of this renewed feeling that dreams can come true and life can be amazing. It's such a twist on my life that he's allowed and I feel ultimately rejuvenated by it." Right now, Jepsen is out promoting her music on the strength of "Call Me Maybe," and is also working on her full-length album, which may include the teen superstar. "I think a collaboration with Justin Bieber isn't out of the question considering we've already gotten together and worked on a little something," she teased. "But for when that will come out, your guess is as good as mine, but hopefully soon. I like the song." "Call Me Maybe" is a sunny pop ditty about asking a cute boy out, and it seems to reflect what Jepsen says her music sounds like. "I would describe my sound as pop with a little bit of flower child-ness in it, a little flower pop," she said, adding that it has touches of folk. So, is Jepsen anything like that girl on her single? "I generally just play eyes at a guy and hope he comes and approaches me, but in this particular instance I was thinking this is how I would do it." What do you think of "Call Me Maybe"?
