Kim Kardashian's Kanye Earrings And Other Celeb PDA

Kim's KW studs join a long line of creative romantic gestures in Hollywood.By Kara Warner Kim Kardashian sports "KW" earrings while in New York Photo: Splash News When it comes to the various ways in which celebrity couples offer up public displays of affection, the ante was raised yet again when Kim Kardashian was spotted over the weekend wearing earrings with the initials of rumored boyfriend Kanye West. But Kim is hardly the first star to wear her heart on her sleeve (or in her ear). Let's take a look back at five other unique celeb PDAs: Tattoos
No matter how well De Beers has ingrained their slogan "A diamond is forever" into our brains, nothing says "I love you forever (hopefully)" like getting a tattoo of your lover's initials, name and/or face. There are so many examples of celebrity couples who have expressed their love via this method that we could write a separate story. The couples who immediately come to mind are Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey, who both got their first-ever ink in celebration of their marriage. Other examples: Tori Spelling's hubby Dean McDermott has his wife's face and décolletage on his shoulder, Marc Anthony had Jennifer on the inside of his wrist before their split, and David and Victoria Beckham. Blood Bonds
Before there was Brangelina, there was the eyebrow-raising romance and eventual marriage between Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. In addition to getting relationship-inspired tattoos to celebrate their love, Jolie surprised everyone by adorning her neck with an amulet that reportedly contained a few drops of Thornton's blood. Music Videos
If you're a musician and in need of a love interest for your music video, why not invite your real-life love to make an appearance in said clip? In addition to several warm fuzzy stories that involve couples meeting on the sets of their music vids (Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova), there are plenty who have featured their boyfriends and girlfriends. Jennifer Lopez is the leading example, first with Ben Affleck's cameo in "Jenny From the Block" and most recently with new love Casper Smart in "Dance Again." Social Media
The advent of Twitter has brought the world a lot of things — over-sharing chief among them. We've become privy to the inner-workings of celebrity couples, thanks to their back-and-forth interaction on the social-networking site. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher basically kicked things off by frequently tweeting cute musings back and forth. They are survived by Khloé and Lamar Odom, Carey Hart and Pink, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden and Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey (again with the PDA!). Nail Art
Before their very public breakup last year, Katy Perry took the whole PDA-by-body-art trend to another level when she showed up on the white carpet at the 2010 VMAs with then-husband Russell Brand's face printed onto her fingernails. The gesture was in part due to the fact that Brand wasn't able to attend the awards show that year, along with a tribute factor celebrating the couple's initial introduction at the awards show in 2009. Where do Kim's Kanye earrings rank among celeb PDAs? Let us know what we missed in the comments! Related Artists Kanye West Mariah Carey Katy Perry

Kristen Bell And Dax Shepard's Relationship Inspires 'Hit And Run'

'The first year or so we were dating, we wrestled a lot with, you know, my past,' says Shepard, who also wrote and directed the movie.By Kara Warner Dax Shepard in "Hit and Run" Photo: Open Road Films Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are putting their love on the line, so to speak, for the sake of their upcoming action-packed R-rated comedy "Hit and Run." The plot revolves around former getaway driver Charlie Bronson (Shepard), who busts out of the Witness Protection Program to drive his girlfriend (Bell) to Los Angeles so she can land her dream job. Their road trip becomes increasingly complicated and dangerous when they are chased by the feds (led by Tom Arnold) and later Charlie's former gang of criminals (led by Bradley Cooper). When MTV News caught up with the fun-loving, real-life couple recently, they provided expert teasery and commentary as to why we'll all be dying to see them onscreen together in the film. "The first year or so we were dating, we wrestled a lot with, you know, my past," said Shepard, who also wrote and directed the movie. "Uncovering details of his sordid lifestyle," Bell added. "The movie became a metaphor for that, for a couple dealing with people's past," Shepard explained. "So we put that in a car-chase movie." "Of course," Bell said with a smile. "Naturally, it's such an easy fit," Shepard agreed. "Where I am in Witness Protection and Kristen's [character] is a professor." "Of course," Bell agreed again with a smile. "Naturally. And, you know, I have an even shadier past than I've really let on, and that kind of becomes obvious over the course of me trying to drive her to L.A.," Shepard said. "The sh-- hits the fan, basically, to sum it all up," Bell offered. And if Shepard and Bell's witty and pretty adorable repartee doesn't entice you to check out "Hit and Run" when it hits theaters August 24, you should also know that there are a lot of fancy and fun cars in the film. "I play one of the supporting characters in the film," Bell said. "The lead lady is played by Lady Lincoln, this 1967 Lincoln that Dax has ... " " ... sunk our savings [into]," Shepard admitted. "Yes, for years, [he] spent every paycheck on and put a lot of heart and soul into," Bell added. "He put race-car bucket seats in, 5-point harnesses ... " " ... 700 horsepower," Shepard cut in. "700 horsepower. I got this," Bell said to Shepard. "It's beautiful. There are a lot of cars in the movie." "If you couldn't bring 500 horsepower to the table, your vehicle was not invited to be in it," Shepard said. 'Hunger Games' Sequel 'Catching Fire': Five Burning Questions

We can't help but look forward to the next film based on Suzanne Collins' best-sellers.By Kara Warner Liam Hemsworth, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutchenson Photo: WireImage While we'd love to take some more time to bask in the glow of just-released box-office champ "The Hunger Games," it's time to move on to the sequel and start pondering and overanalyzing everything about "Catching Fire". Here are our five burning questions (minor spoilers ahead for those who haven't yet read the book — hurry up and get to it, people!): When Will Gary Ross Officially Sign On to Direct?
By all accounts, this question has already been answered behind closed doors in some fancy studio room somewhere but has not been announced to the general public. As of now, Gary Ross is attached to direct "Catching Fire," which, in "Hollywood speak," means he's still trying to work out the details with his agents and the studio. We're pretty optimistic that he'll return, though, because he's offered up some very specific details about his plans for it. When and Where Will Filming Take Place?
Come on, Lionsgate, you've already announced the release date for "Catching Fire." When will you announce the production start date? Time is ticking! Those of us who've read the book know there are Games afoot but of a completely different nature. Ross told MTV News that he has some specific ideas about how to shoot in/on a tropical location but wouldn't expand upon them beyond teasing the tone of the second film. "It will look and feel slightly different from the first," he said before adding that he can guarantee one thing: "Catching Fire" will not be in 3-D. "I don't think it's appropriate for this film. If we shoot in 3-D, we become the Capitol," he said. Who Will play Finnick Odair?
Much like the hullabaloo that surrounded the casting of Katniss, Peeta and Gale, fans are very invested in who will play hunky-yet-surprisingly-complex victor Finnick Odair. The list of fan hopefuls is all over the place and includes Armie Hammer, Alex Pettyfer, Garrett Hedlund, Hunter Parrish and YouTube star Joey Graceffa. (This writer would very much like for relative unknown Benjamin Stone to be in the mix. See his work on "The Nine Lives of Chloe King" for proof.) Will Kristen Bell's Campaigning Pay Off?
In addition to charming us into total adoration via the release of her slightly embarrassing sloth video, Kristen Bell has not been shy about her love of "The Hunger Games." The admitted superfan has launched her very own campaign of sorts to be cast as kick-ass District 7 champ Johanna Mason. Only time will tell to see if she gets her shot. We think she at least deserves an audition, don't you? Which Scene Will Be the Most Swoon-Worthy?
The greater messages in "The Hunger Games" are about survival and independence and freedom. However, we can't help it if there are also several swoon-worthy scenes that we can't wait to see played out onscreen between Katniss, Peeta and Gale. Speaking to "Catching Fire," what will make us melt in our seats most? That "beach scene" between Katniss and Peeta or Katniss and Gale's emotional exchange after he's severely beaten and recovering at her mother's house? 'Kony 2012' Video Went Viral With Rihanna's Help

'She had been tweeted by her fans en masse, saying you're in this video,' Jedidiah Jenkins of Invisible Children organization tells MTV News.By Jacob Soboroff Rihanna Photo: Getty Images At noon Pacific time last Monday, Jedidiah Jenkins, a member of the nonprofit organization Invisible Children's inner circle, saw the group's 278th YouTube video uploaded and wasn't sure what to expect. Jenkins had written the script to the film, the 30-minute documentary "Kony 2012," about the Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony, and it had been a grind. "It was really the hardest movie we've ever made" in the nearly decade-long history of the group, he told MTV News in a phone interview from Los Angeles. The film is now the most viral video ever, with more than 70 million views on YouTube alone in the video's first six days thanks in no small part to an army of young supporters who flexed their power by using social media to drive celebrities and friends to watch and share the video. Creating online content and distributing it with social media was nothing new for Invisible Children — the group already had 450,000 Facebook friends the night before the video was posted and they've used YouTube to share videos about their cause since 2006 — but the way this video spread was something the group could never have planned. Jenkins said the group posted the video at noon on Monday and that evening hosted a screening at Creative Artists Agency in Los Angeles with celebrities Kristen Bell and Jason Bateman, who took to Twitter at 9:42 p.m. immediately after watching the film. "We had a strategy to screen it at CAA with the few celebrities we know, get them in the room, make them watch it," Jenkins said. Within the 24 hours that followed, celebrities including comedian Kelly Oxford, Ryan Seacrest, Diddy, Justin Bieber, Oprah and Steve Carrell had tweeted about the video after being notified about it by their fans thanks to a call-to-action in the documentary. Soon enough, Jenkins' phone was ringing off the hook, including a call from Rihanna. "She had been tweeted by her fans en masse, saying you're in this video," Jenkins recalled. "She just kind of responded and clicked on the link that one of her fans followed. It blew her mind. She tweeted it immediately. One of her music video directors, Anthony Mandler, actually went to Uganda with me to see our programs on the ground in November." "Anthony texted her. They conference called me at 11 at night and I missed the call twice, because I was at a late dinner. Three calls in a row means it's an emergency," so Jenkins picked up. "Anthony said, 'Jed, I have Rihanna on the line. She wants to talk to you.' " Jenkins recalled the 24-year-old singer saying, "I've never been moved like this, I've never been involved. I want to go big. I want to get involved. I want this to be my thing and I want to blow this up. I want to get kids involved. I'm just responding to my fans. They're so moved by this." Wherever you land in the debate over the organization's tactics and the film's accuracy, "Kony 2012" is undeniably a social media phenomenon made possible by support from celebrities encouraged to get involved by their young fans. Even CNN's Piers Morgan admitted he first heard about the movement from his 14-year-old son. As of press time, Invisible Children has nearly 3 million likes on Facebook, and the question remains: What's next for this enormous group of engaged and active young people when so many of their peers are apathetic? Jenkins said the group is considering participating a voter-registration drive as the 2012 election approaches. But he admitted that first he and his colleagues have to get caught up. "We couldn't have ever, ever imagined that this would be the fastest viral movement in history. We are dealing with an unprecedented amount of attention. It's a huge amount of responsibility. It's exhausting. We're excited for the challenge, but it's intimidating too." Related Artists Rihanna

'Big Miracle' Is Heartwarming Fun Despite Chilly Temps, Stars Say

Drew Barrymore, John Krasinksi and Kristen Bell discuss their new film, which follows the rescue of three gray whales in Alaska.By Kara Warner John Krasinksi and Drew Barrymore in "Big Miracle" Photo: Universal Pictures If you're looking for a feel-good film to see this weekend, look no further than "Big Miracle," the story of the real-life rescue of three gray whales trapped in ice near Point Barrow, Alaska, in 1988. Incredibly, the effort became an international issue that involved a rare collaboration between the United States and the Soviet Union and garnered worldwide media attention. MTV News recently caught up with the three stars of the film, Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski and Kristen Bell, who explained the multi-generational appeal and importance of the story and the cause presented in the film. "The whales have Twitter accounts," Krasinski joked when asked how the film might specifically appeal to MTV viewers. "So, streamlined information, done deal. Don't ask us, ask them. They'll talk all about it," he said with a smile. "It's a big movie that deals with participation, and with the election coming up and all these different things, and everybody is divided over this, that and the other, and everybody is angry about something. It's one of those moments where you get to say, 'I could just step in and lend my voice to something.' And it really helps, it makes you feel important and special that you're doing something. This movie sort of focuses on that completely, about how when you get a bunch of people together you can kind of do anything." Barrymore added that the film's setting in the late '80s provides for a unique look back at our media and political cultures at the time. "It's an interesting look back at how if things were a little different maybe we wouldn't exactly be where we are. But, it's not in a patronizing way, it's in a really interesting way," she said. "And it's amazing historically, like, you know, environmentally and politically. But, I think it's very true to what's going on now, that if people work together, whether it's protesting via Twitter for an important movement to change their country or to do something wonderful and important like saving whales. It's working together, so I think actually in 1987 when this takes place and what's going on right now today, they definitely have a connection." Kristen Bell also focused on the warm, fuzzy aspects of the film, particularly how its positive message compares to the continually multiplying "train wreck" elements involved in other films and TV. "I think it's a very positive story as opposed to many of the unendingly interesting train wrecks that are put on television or in films these days, which believe me, I'm not poo-pooing, but there's something very inspiring about a story where a bunch of different people come together for a common goal and actually accomplish it," Bell explained. "It's very, very inspiring, I think. And often times, news headlines or things that are written about in blogs, you know, reality television, it's not as inspiring as you want it to be, at least not for me. And it actually happened. It's historical, so you'll get smarter watching it. You'll also be inspired, so you'll be happier. What's the downfall? See the movie!" Are you planning on seeing "Big Miracle"?
