will.i.am 'Still Has That Fire' On 'This Is Love,' Eva Simons Says

Dutch singer also teases the song's 'mad' video to MTV News.By Jocelyn Vena Eva Simons Photo: MTV News For his song "This Is Love," will.i.am enlisted Dutch singer Eva Simons to add some powerhouse vocals to the raging party track. The searing dance production is highlighted by Simons' diva-tude as her voice soars over will's creation, full of big chants, bumping beats and dirty synths. Simons had already proved she had hook potential appearing on Afrojack's 2010 dance-floor anthem "Take Over Control," and given will's history of enlisting female pop singers to add a bit of sexy flair to his songs, Simons was a perfect muse to help shape his latest dance-pop track. "He is super creative, and we kind of have the same energy: We can't sit still. We were in the studio, and he had this track," Simons recalled to MTV News about working with the Black Eyed Peas mastermind. "And he's like, 'Yo, Eva, would you like to do this song with me?' And we had been recording a couple tracks before, so he knows what I'm capable of and he trusts me, and we don't really know each other for that long, but he trusts me. "I recorded it," she continued. "And he mixes it straight away from his laptop ... and it's done. That's so beautiful — not only is he super creative and knows what he wants, but he also sees when other people are creative as well. He's not afraid to collaborate." This particular collaboration also included Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello. "It's really a club-banger," Simons said, adding that will included "some piano intro in there and violins. ... He's always creative. It doesn't [just] work for the clubs, it works for the radio, it'll also work on a big festival, like him on the piano, some strings, some live drums." will and Simons recently shot a video for the track, and she had this tease for fans when asked to give some hints: "Fireworks. Just like, 'What world is this? Like, where are we?' and 'What season is this?' " she said. "It's mad. It's pretty awesome." Much of that awesomeness, she adds, stems from will directing the clip himself. "I'm just surprised. I'm not surprised, actually, 'cause that's him," she said. "He is also a super-geek. I'm a super-geek. I love technology, and he was like, he was directing the video and he was doing the motion-control of the camera and everything. He knows his stuff. It was pretty awesome to see." Simons continued that it was refreshing to see that even with all his years in the industry, he still loves to do it. "I just admire him," she said. "After all those years he still has that fire, and that's just beautiful. But I feel like — 'cause I was big fan of the Black Eyed Peas, and I still am — and he seems like he's the same guy still that I see before." Their song is expected to appear on will's long-teased solo album, #willpower, which also features Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Mick Jagger and Nicole Scherzinger. No release date has been set for the album. Related Artists Eva Simons Will.I.Am

Demi Lovato Confirmed As 'X Factor' Judge

Lovato and Britney Spears expected to be at Monday (May 14) Fox upfront event.By Gil Kaufman Demi Lovato Photo: Tom Pennington/ Getty Images America will meet the rebooted panel of the "X Factor" on Monday and filling the fourth slot at the judge's table will be Demi Lovato. The 19-year-old Disney star is expected to make the announcement of her high-profile gig on Monday at the Fox network upfront presentation, which will also officially reveal the worst-kept-secret in TV: that Britney Spears has joined the show as well. Lovato is one of the many names
that has been in the mix for the gig, which at one point also included Avril Lavigne, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. TMZ confirmed that Lovato has scored the gig, which will put her on alongside series creator Simon Cowell and music executive L.A. Reid when the show comes back for its second season in the fall. Last week, Spears finalized her deal, which will reportedly pay her $15 million
for one season's work. Spears and Lovato replace Paula Abdul and former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, who were fired in January after the first season of the heavily-hyped show failed to live up to Cowell's lofty expectations. Both Lovato and Spears are expected to be on hand on Monday when Fox announces the show's new lineup at its upfront presentations. Though Lovato has a summer tour planned
, those dates will reportedly not conflict with her new duties on "X Factor." A spokesperson for "X Factor" could not be reached for comment at press time. Last week, MTV News asked some media experts whether the move to "X Factor" makes sense for Spears and the general consensus was that it did. "I think it is a good move, actually," said Entertainment Weekly
writer Tanner Stransky. "I think she has so many people on her team watching what she's doing and being careful. I think nobody would let her take a misstep, but I think it's the right move right now." The only concern is how the reclusive star might deal with the increased scrutiny and requirement to think on her feet on live TV. "I think everyone is a little concerned, simply because Britney has been very press-shy since she's been in her conservatorship, and everything is incredibly guarded and incredibly controlled," said Keith Caulfield, associate director of charts at Billboard. "And there can be uncontrollable moments on 'The X Factor,' and if things are not completely in control and things are not rehearsed, things could go wrong. With a live show, anything can happen, and that can be very exciting but, at the same time, a little worrisome." Lovato and Spears, 30, are the kind of young singers that "X Factor" producers were seemingly looking for to give the show a more youthful appeal and share their experience with contestants. Both are former child stars who've struggled with personal issues
and neither has experience appearing on live network television. Do you think Demi Lovato will make a good "X Factor" judge? Let us know in comments below. Related Photos The Evolution Of: Demi Lovato Related Artists Demi Lovato

Britney Spears, Demi Lovato Will Bring 'Serious Wisdom' to 'X Factor'

MTV News talks to 'So You Think You Can Dance' cast about Fox's decision to enlist the two pop stars for the reality singing show.By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears, LA Reid, Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato Photo: Britney Spears via Facebook NEW YORK — As the fall TV season continues to make news, Fox has had the most buzz thanks to the news that Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will sit down beside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as female judges on "The X Factor," replacing Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. On Monday (May 14), as talent from many of the network's leading shows lined up to talk to the press at the Fox event, what everyone really wanted to know was how these two artists might fit on the reality competition show. Given that both have made names for themselves thanks to their own unique charms as pop stars, some of the more seasoned network vets offered up some sage advice for the reality show newbies. MTV News chatted with the folks of "So You Think You Can Dance," in the hours before the presentation where they were confirmed, to get their sage advice for Brit and Demi. "You know, I don't have any advice for those ladies," "SYTYCD" host Cat Deeley explained. "What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I love the idea that they've been in the business for so long and since being kids and so quit often they've had successes and they've had failures on things. "And I think the most important thing is the mistakes we make," she added. "You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I think they'll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. I think it's a great booking." Judge Mary Murphy seemed excited by the chance to run into the girls at Fox-related events, and even shared that she'd love to see dancer Britney make an appearance on her show as well. "So she would be a good [guest] too if she wanted to pop on over, but I think she's going to be a busy young woman with everything she has going on," she said. "I think we'll tune in to find out what the heck she's gonna say!" she said, going on to share some judging advice. "Just try to speak from the heart and you can't go wrong." While Murphy and Deeley focused on the positive when it comes to their highly publicized judging spots, Nigel Lythgoe wondered if the singers (Britney, 30, and Demi, 19) might be too young for a mentor-type position. "Well they've got to look on it as a brand-new show, to be frank. I don't think they need to look at the first season. I think they've got to be honest as they can be," he said of coming in for season two. "They're both artists and artists will always couch any criticism because they know that they've been criticized, so they've got to ignore that. "They've got to be as honest as they can be with their contestants and just inspire them to be better," he said, before sharing his one hesitation about them. "My only reservation is they're both young and I do think that mentors should be of an age," he added, joking he fears it might put older experts, like him, out of a job. "I do think mentors have had so much experience before they mentor. At the same time, both of these young ladies have had incredible personal experience and been through so much in their own lives that hopefully they can bring that to the party too. But at the end of the day, they are going to take newcomers and literally push them through a reality television competition. It's tough." Britney Spears Joins 'X Factor' As A Judge

Pop star will earn a reported $15 million for one season.By Katie Byrne Britney Spears Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Move over, Christina! Now that "The Voice" has wrapped, it's time for another Mouseketeer-turned-diva to judge future music stars: Britney Spears has reportedly signed a deal to be a judge on "The X Factor," according to E! News. News first broke in early March that the pop star was in negotiations to join the panel of Fox's reality singing competition, and last month, it was reported that Spears was being offered $15 million for one season of the show — $3 million more than Jennifer Lopez earns as a judge on "American Idol." "The contract is signed," a source told E! "There's been a lot of back and forth over the past few weeks as they negotiated the small details, but she's on. It's all completed and Britney is beyond excited." In an April interview with TMZ, Cowell remained mum about the Spears negotiation rumors but admitted that he would "love" to have her on "X Factor." "I think it would be a coup," he said. "I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to, so we'll have to wait and see." Spears will join returning mentors Cowell and record executive L.A. Reid on the panel. Several stars — from Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato to Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey — were reportedly discussed as possible replacements for Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul before Spears became the front-runner. There's no word yet on whether one of those rumored contenders (or anyone, for that matter) will join the show as a fourth judge. "The X Factor" returns to Fox in September, with auditions already under way. Are you excited for Britney to join "The X Factor"? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Britney Spears
